Honey Garlic Chicken is a flavorful and sweet-savory dish made with bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs, garlic, honey, and other herbs and spices. The chicken is first seared in a skillet to create a crispy skin, then coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce made with brown sugar, honey, thyme, oregano, and garlic. Green beans are also added to the skillet, creating a one-pan meal that's easy to prepare and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The dish is then baked in the oven until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has caramelized. The result is a delicious, tender, and juicy chicken with a sweet and garlicky flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispy green beans.

Ingredients (4 servings):

6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/4 cup honey (85 g)

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 lb green beans (450 g)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side down, and sear both sides until golden brown. Note: the skin side will take longer to cook than the other side, in order to properly render the fat and crisp up the skin.
  5. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Pour out any excess fat from the skillet, but leave some in for the sauce.
  7. Add garlic to the skillet and stir until fragrant.
  8. Add brown sugar, honey, thyme, and oregano to the skillet and stir. Reduce heat to low.
  9. Return chicken thighs to the skillet and coat them in the sauce.
  10. Add green beans to the skillet.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  12. Serve and enjoy!
