Honey Garlic Chicken is a flavorful and sweet-savory dish made with bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs, garlic, honey, and other herbs and spices. The chicken is first seared in a skillet to create a crispy skin, then coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce made with brown sugar, honey, thyme, oregano, and garlic. Green beans are also added to the skillet, creating a one-pan meal that's easy to prepare and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The dish is then baked in the oven until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has caramelized. The result is a delicious, tender, and juicy chicken with a sweet and garlicky flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispy green beans.
Ingredients (4 servings):
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 cup honey (85 g)
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 lb green beans (450 g)
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat.
- Add chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side down, and sear both sides until golden brown. Note: the skin side will take longer to cook than the other side, in order to properly render the fat and crisp up the skin.
- Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Pour out any excess fat from the skillet, but leave some in for the sauce.
- Add garlic to the skillet and stir until fragrant.
- Add brown sugar, honey, thyme, and oregano to the skillet and stir. Reduce heat to low.
- Return chicken thighs to the skillet and coat them in the sauce.
- Add green beans to the skillet.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
- Serve and enjoy!
